How to Access the Advanced Panel
The storage policy change is done from the CloudPe Advanced Panel
⚠️ Important
The storage policy change option is available in the Advanced Panel, not the standard CMP dashboard. You must navigate to the Advanced Panel for your region to access this feature.
1
Log in to CloudPe CMP Dashboard
Go to cmp.dashboard.controlcloud.app and sign in with your credentials.
2
Select your Region
Click the region selector in the top navigation bar. Select your region (e.g., IN-WEST2) from the dropdown list.

3
Open the Advanced Panel
After selecting your region, click the external link icon (β†—) that appears next to the region name. This opens the Advanced Panel in a new tab at in-west2.controlcloud.app:8800.

3
Upgrade: Standard NVMe β†’ Pro NVMe
Double your IOPS and throughput with a live, zero-downtime upgrade
βœ… Zero downtime. The volume stays attached and fully operational during the policy change. Your VM continues running without interruption.
1
Navigate to Volumes in the Advanced Panel
In the left sidebar, click Volumes under the Compute section. You will see a list of all your volumes with their current Policy column showing the active storage tier.

Downgrade: Pro NVMe β†’ Standard NVMe
Reduce costs by switching back to Standard NVMe β€” still zero downtime
⚠️ Performance will reduce from 50,000 to 25,000 IOPS and from 2,000 to 1,000 MB/s after downgrade. No downtime or data loss β€” the volume stays attached throughout.
1
Navigate to the volume in the Advanced Panel
In the Advanced Panel, go to Volumes in the sidebar and click the volume currently on Pro NVMe. In the Properties section, confirm Storage policy: Pro NVMe is shown. Click the ✏ pencil icon next to it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about NVMe storage tier changes
Will my VM experience any downtime during the tier change? +
No. The tier change between Standard NVMe and Pro NVMe is performed live on the storage backend. Your VM remains running and the volume stays attached throughout the process. Typical changes complete within seconds.
Why can’t I change from Eco NVMe to Standard or Pro live? +
Eco NVMe uses Erasure Coding, while Standard and Pro NVMe use 3Γ— Replication. These are fundamentally different storage architectures, so an in-place migration is not possible. To switch from Eco to Standard/Pro, you must create a new volume, copy your data, and swap the attachment.
How long does the policy change take to apply? +
The policy change is applied almost instantly β€” typically in a few seconds. Once you click the βœ“ button, the Properties section updates immediately and the Volumes list reflects the new tier. There is no background migration or wait time.
Will my billing change immediately after the tier change? +
Yes. Billing is calculated per hour based on your current storage tier. Once the policy change is saved, the new rate applies from that moment forward. If you upgrade to Pro NVMe, you will be billed at β‚Ή8.00/GB/month from that point. If you downgrade back to Standard, billing reverts to β‚Ή6.20/GB/month.
Why is the Change Policy option not visible in the main CMP dashboard? +
The storage policy change is only available in the Advanced Panel (accessed via the region selector β†’ external link icon). The main CMP dashboard does not expose this option in the current UI version. Always use the Advanced Panel at in-west2.controlcloud.app:8800 (or your region’s equivalent) for policy changes.
Can I change the policy while the volume is attached to a running VM? +
Yes β€” that is the recommended approach. The volume can be In Use (attached to a running VM) during the tier change. You do not need to detach, stop, or snapshot the volume before changing the policy.
